Book Club Recap-Paths of Glory

At  book club last night, we  discussed…

Had I been the host (which I was not) and was concerned with details such as guest enjoying themselves and such (which I would be), I would say that the evening went very well. 1)- The refreshments got eaten (Even though I had none-Remember Lent; I really wanted those chocolate covered strawberries and carmel brownies.) and 2)- The discussion lasted well over an hour (with very few moments of awkward silence.)

In my book
that is a success.

This book spurred discussion on quite a few topics.
As Cat Deeley from SYTYCD would say,

“Let’s take a look at some of the best bits,
shall we?”

Depression, causes & treatments
Military service
Homeless habitats
Movies
Pregnant men
Blogging
Goddess Earth v. God in Heaven
Death & Burial
Childhood innocence/fear
Quilting
Boats/campers
Traveling the world
Women, a force to be reckoned with
(if we can stay focused on one task long enough)

My personal favorite…
Prostitutes…social diseases or philanthropists
(No, we were not drinking.)

Oh and in case anyone is wondering…
this is a hansom cab.

hansom cab is a kind of horse-drawn carriage designed and patented in 1834 by Joseph Hansom, an architect from York. The vehicle was developed and tested by Hansom in HinckleyLeicestershire,England. Originally known as the Hansom safety cab, its purpose was to combine speed with safety, with a low centre of gravity that was essential for safe cornering. Hansom's original design was heavily altered by John Chapman to improve its practicability, but retained Hansom's name.[citation needed]
Cab is a shortening of cabriolet, reflecting the design of the carriage. It replaced the hackney carriageas a vehicle for hire; with the introduction of clockwork mechanical taximeters to measure fares, the name became taxicab. Hansom cabs enjoyed immense popularity as they were fast, light enough to be pulled by a single horse (making the journey cheaper than travelling in a larger four-wheel coach) and were agile enough to steer around horse-drawn vehicles in the notorious traffic jams of nineteenth-century London. They were always seen as rather 'racy' and were not used by respectable ladies on their own.[citation needed]
